The Korean National Flag Institute held a training session for the 2025 Advanced Examination Evaluators (hereinafter referred to as the Training Session).

The KGA conducts training sessions at the beginning of each year to strengthen the fairness and objectivity of evaluation by establishing evaluation criteria and to cultivate the practical skills of evaluation committee members.

On February 27, 72 out of 79 high-level evaluators participated in the training session held at the KGA's lecture hall and central training center.

Advanced judges evaluate candidates for the 6th Dan and above, and the qualification requirement is a 9th Dan in Taekwondo with at least a 2nd Dan black belt.

The training session began with an orientation, followed by practical training (basic movements and poomsae), the presentation of the appointment letter, theoretical training (judging regulations and rules, judging evaluation methods), a special lecture (Noh Soon-myung, head of the administration), video mock evaluation training, and a written test for the evaluators.

After presenting the certificates of appointment, Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-seop said, “Taekwondo black belt and white belt judging is a process that verifies the level of skill and training in taekwondo and is a symbol of authenticity and authority. Do not forget that only a fair evaluation can increase the value of the black belt, and strive to serve as an example to all leaders.”

Following last year's training, this year's mock evaluation was conducted by watching videos of actual advanced candidates, which enhanced the effectiveness of the training by enabling the evaluators to develop a sense of practice and compensate for their own deficiencies.

In addition, the training session also included a written examination on the Taekwondo Judging Rules and the criteria for evaluating high-level judges, and the results of the examination will be applied to the activities of the judges in the future.

Meanwhile, the Kukkiwon will hold a training session on March 26 (Wednesday) for evaluators from the Ministry of National Defense, the National Police Agency, and the Presidential Security Service.
